Due to continued growth and expansion, BDM Construction is seeking an experienced Senior Groundworks Estimator to lead our Estimating Department.

BDM Construction specialises in demolition, groundworks, drainage, substructure works, and hard landscaping within the M25. Our clients include Tier 2 Main Contractors and leading Self-Delivery Developers, and we are known for successfully delivering complex projects with a strong focus on quality and timely completion.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and experienced Estimator to join a dynamic and growing team, taking a senior leadership role within the business.

About the Role

Based at our Ealing office, the successful candidate will lead the Estimating Department and report directly to the company owners. You will be responsible for overseeing all estimating activities and contributing to the ongoing growth and development of our pre-construction function.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed and competitive cost estimates for civils and groundworks projects.

• Review project specifications, drawings, and contractual documents to identify risks, opportunities, and cost drivers.

• Lead tender submissions, including measurement, pricing, and supporting documentation.

• Collaborate with clients, supply chain partners, and internal teams to ensure clarity and alignment throughout the tender process.

• Maintain and develop the cost database, providing benchmarking and insights for future projects.

• Mentor junior estimators and play a key role in developing a high-performing preconstruction team.

• Produce accurate and timely reports for the business owners on estimating progress, performance, and outcomes.

Ideal Candidate

• Minimum 5 to 6 years’ proven experience in groundworks and civils estimating.

• Strong background in residential, student accommodation, commercial, healthcare, and industrial projects.

• Proactive attitude with the ability to lead, influence, and mentor others.

• Excellent analytical, communication, and organisational skills.
